Query results: March, 2007

As you probably know, GetGNULinux.org has been run by an informal group of people ever since it started.

On March 6th, I have applied for registration of GNU/Linux Matters, a non-profit organisation (“association de loi 1901″), in Toulouse, France. GNU/Linux Matters will run the GetGNULinux.org websites and make sure they always stay in the right track.

Within two months the association will be officially registered (in the “Journal Officiel“, the French Government records) and will have legal status, very similar to that of a corporation.

I will post more later on the particularities of the non-profit status, the way we are organised, and the progress of our registration.

The latest addition has been three questions & answers in our Linux FAQ page.

• Is GNU/Linux the only free operating sytem available?
• Can I play my DVDs and MP3s under GNU/Linux?
• Can I play popular 3D games under GNU/Linux?

The page has been re-organised slightly, and the XHTML code was improved (in particular one intermittent display bug is gone). The page will be changed further, with more questions answered, and improvement of the bottom questions when the new page “Misunderstanding Free Software” is ready.
