We are excited to release our latest project, LinuxPreloaded.com and its Spanish translation, LinuxPreinstalado.com. The concept is simple: a short and elegant list of vendors selling computers pre-installed with GNU/Linux.

As far as we know it has never been done this way - aimed at everyday users - and we believe it will be highly relevant to our audience. A few commercial links on the site will provide the GNU/Linux Matters finances with a small income, fitting well with our vision of highly relevant, non-obtrusive explicit commercial operations, driven by a non-profit organization. You can see it as a way to keep us running with no automated text ads. We believe it means a lot more - there has to be great value in good communication.

So let’s wish this little project success. We’ll push it up with our usual motivation =)

We have the pleasure to announce that IYCC has become a patron of GNU/Linux Matters. IYCC is a computer company based in Laredo (Texas), USA, which will manufacture and sell computers running on Ubuntu.

We really appreciate the trust they put in our activities, and the funds they provide as part of the patronage will help us in our activities. If you are interested in supporting efficient free software advocacy, becoming a patron is a great way of giving us momentum and helping us meet our objectives for the coming year.

We have been accepted for a conference at the T-DOSE event in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, on October 13th.

Olivier will give a conference titled “Overtaking Proprietary Software Without Writing Code” on the Saturday afternoon. The conference, also given the following week in Germany at Ubucon, will be entirely in English.

We’ll of course have some of our T-shirts for sale, as well as some leaflets and our usual enthusiasm to share with anyone around =)
