The activities and strategy of GNU/Linux Matters will be discussed over four days in Madrid, starting August 17th. With two participants (Olivier and Gustavo) this can hardly be called a “GLM Summit” ; -), but if you happen to be nearby and are interested in GLM, come along for a chat and we’ll get you a drink.
More than one year after GetGNULinux.org first went online, and six months after the non-profit was established, it is time for important decisions. We have a strong desire to see GNU/Linux Matters grow into a successful, sustainable project. A variety of topics will be addressed, the main of which are:
- Technical infrastructure behind the websites (namely, the dreaded switch to DocBook and management of translations);
- Brief overview of security (prompted by the incident last June);
- Financial matters, including fund-raising and search for patrons and commercial partners;
- And especially, where to move next. We have plenty of ideas (hint), to address a variety of issues and different audiences; we must build a precise roadmap and allocate our (limited) time resources wisely.
There will, of course, be a good amount of communication afterwards, as keeping our strategies secret is not in our habits.
We have, by the way, recently added a who’s who page on this site, in case one would wish to know who really is behind this terrific, mysterious rocking one-of-its-kind project = )
